Over the last several years, I’ve gotten more involved with the Society for News Design, serving as a member of the volunteer Events Committee, and, most recently, helping to facilitate the Society’s 45th Creative Competition.

STUDENT TRAINING
In the years since my graduation, I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to host and lead workshops for the students at the Iowa State Daily.
I've led training sessions on topics ranging from page design to newsroom management during a university emergency. These workshops have involved both small-group discussions and hands-on training to immediately put the skills we've discussed to good use.
CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
As a guest educator at the College Media Association’s annual convention in Austin, Texas, in 2015, I had the chance to present a course on newsroom management to 40 student journalists, editors and managers.
I took students through newsroom scenarios that required cooperation and communication. I encouraged the students to think outside the box and consider uncommon approaches to breaking news.
